Targeted Visitors Are Critical To Your Online Success

You may have traffic – but are you selling product?

Not all traffic is the same. If you are trying to sell something from your blog or website, you need targeted traffic. This type of traffic is actually interested in what you are selling.

What Type Of Site Do You Have?

Website Type 1: I Am Making Money From Adsense

OK, if you have set up a website with Adsense and are trying to make money from Adsesne, then yes, most likely you can make some good money from untargeted traffic.

However, if your traffic is targeted to your Adsense site you will make better money with Adsense. You visitors will be interested in your Ads and advertisers will pay more to have their ads shown on your site if they convert better.

Advertisers will pay more to have their ads shown on your site if they convert better.

This is why websites that focus on specific niches demand higher cost per clicks. Higher cost per clicks mean more money for you.

Website Type 2: I Am Making Money From Selling My Own Product or Selling As An Affiliate.

If you are trying to sell a product or sell another person’s product as an affiliate you need highly targeted traffic. You will simply not make any good money with traffic that is not interested in your product.

The type of traffic really will make a difference to the success of your business.

The type of traffic really will make a difference to the success of your business. Like any business you need to target your potential customers – ones that are ready with the credit card to buy whatever you are selling.

Trying to sell Ice to Eskimos is impossible.

You can easily target your potential customer. One way to do this is join a forum in your niche. Then go to the section in the forum that is relevant to the product you are selling. Then participate with a signature in your profile. It really is this simple.

How about you? How have you found the difference between targeted traffic and non-targeted traffic? We would love to hear from you – please leave a comment.

How To Get A Rash – Of Website Traffic……

OK, so you don’t really want a rash – you want a rash of website visitors. An influx of visitors that continue to come back to your website or blog everyday.

Seeking – Wanting more.

If this is what you want – then read on.

If you are working your butt off and not getting any results, then think carefully why this might be the case. Check out these simple points that you can ask yourself about your blog.

1.0 Content

What are you adding to your blog?

Are you adding regurgitated crap?

Where are you getting your blog posts from?

Are you simply rewriting information that is already out there?

Or do you have top quality information that is hard to get? Information that you have proven yourself provides good quality answers and new fresh ideas.

Really look carefully at it. Your content is the single most important element in a successful website. Your content should be based on your experience – facts that you have proven yourself.

2.0 How Do You Look?

How does your blog look?

Does it look professional?

Or does it look amateurish?

Have you used a template that is available to the masses?

Or do you have a custom made unique template? The look and feel of your site makes a MASSIVE difference.

Would you come back to a blog that looks crap? Probably not – so if yours looks crap – then ask yourself how you can improve it.

The dollars are in the detail. Making your site the best it can be and then making it even better.

Look at some of the big time bloggers. John Chow, Shoemoney, Problogger.

What sort of template do they have? Is it a mass produced template?

No.

It is custom made specifically for them and their BRAND.

3.0 Are You Using The Right Tools?

How are you marketing your blog?

Are you whacking up a few comments here and there hoping to get a few hits from others?

Is your blog indexed?

You need to apply quality across all aspects of your site to ensure results. This means learning about how things work and ensuring you apply them.

Learn, Learn, Learn – then Test, Test, Test.

Are your expectation realistic? The online world is highly competitive. You need to be unique and different to stand out above the others.

Stand out like a sore thumb.

Stand above all the rest. Check out the image at the top of this post. The Sunflower is standing above all the others. This is what you need to do. Otherwise you are just one in the millions of others.

Anything else you can add to this? Please comment.

You better make sure there is something good to look at too – otherwise you potentially will miss the easiest traffic of all – return visitors. Yes, producing quality that is unique and entertaining is ideal.

Think about which sites YOU have bookmarked, why you bookmarked them and then replicate those same principles on your site.

Obviously you want to capitalise on the sites that get the most traffic. So how do you find out which ones do? Fortunately for everyone, Seth Godin has produced a list showing just that. As written in his post;

Content Is King, Produce More Content Get A Lot More Website Traffic

Producing unique content is going to get you a truckload of traffic. Content that people are looking for. New ideas, new strategies new tactics or whatever – just add content to your blog or site and the traffic will follow.

It is amazing to see how and which keywords are picked up after writing a considerable amount of content to some of my blogs and websites. This is where statistic trackers are very useful. These trackers show you exactly how your blog or website was discovered.

If you are not using a tracker on your website it is highly recommended. In fact it is critical for it’s success. You can use Google Analytics or even Statcounter. Both are free and will show you all the information you need to keep discovering how people are finding you.

It is amazing to see how and which keywords are picked up after writing a considerable amount of content to some of my blogs and websites.

So, once you have your counter loaded up – start writing. If you don’t like writing, then you should get another hobbie like riding bikes or jogging, as if you want your blog or website to be a success you need to write unique content all day everyday.

Yes, sounds a bit like a fulltime job eh? Well it doesn’t need to be that way. Writing what comes to mind is pretty easy really and it only takes a few minutes usually to write a post.

So, if you need some inspiration the put your head in the freezer for 10 minutes and see what comes….just kidding. The best place for inspiration is obviously the internet. You can simple type any topic into Google and find something to write about in literally any niche.

So, if you enjoy writing then people will be attracted to your site by the massive amounts of unique content you are adding to your site.

Passive and Active Website Traffic Methods – Beer By The Pool?

Methods to get traffic can either be of 2 types. Passive or Active.

This is very similar to passive and active income streams. There is a ton of information online about passive income. This is because it is a very profitable type of income and something that is highly sought after.

After all – what would you rather do?

Spend 40 hours a week earning $10 an hour

Or

Create something once and sell it over and over again.

For me – I would choose the second option. Really, this is smart business and all major businesses apply this principle, hence why they are successful and profitable.

So what has this got to do with website traffic?

Well, you can apply the same principle to how you generate traffic. Either, you can produce traffic through an active method or you can produce it through passive methods. Here are 1 examples of each.

Active Method
Participating in forums.
This is a very active method. You need to participate daily to get others interested in your website. After a few weeks, your posts become buried and don’t send as much traffic your way.

You are actively pursuing traffic.

Passive Method
A good example of a passive website traffic generation method is Search Engine Optimization. You set up you website correctly using the good SEO principles and website structure and before you know it, you are getting visitors.

Yes, this is going to take some effort, but once you have completed it, it is going to continue to drive traffic even if you are in the Bahamas sitting beside the pool sipping on a Big Kahuna…(Beer).

You will need to spend the time in the beginning setting up your site correctly, but you can see the effort is going to pay off in the long run.

If you focus on how active or passive the website generation method is that you are thinking of applying, you can make your efforts feel worthwhile by choosing the passive methods and applying these for the long term.

After all, what would you rather do – sit by the pool in the Bahamas or keep adding posts to your profile in some forum?????
