8 Easy Ways To Optimize Your Website

Have you tried getting traffic from the big white elephant in the room – Search Engine Optimization?

Follow these instructions….

Step 1:
Put your right hand on your nose and hold your nose.

Step 2:
Now with your left hand, put it through the triangle part that your right hand is making. Wave your left hand – yes, that is an elephant trunk. Well done – you pass the SEO test.

Well, hardly…..but it really isn’t that much harder.

It’s all about links and getting your site set up correctly.

Hey – if you haven’t optimized your site for SEO, wake up and smell the roses. This is the easiest type of traffic you can get.

These are 5 advantages for Organic Traffic;

1. You don’t have to get your wallet out – yep – keep it in your pocket (What – you must be kidding?)

2. It is easy and straight forward (Well – sort of)

3. You can target certain keywords can get results very quickly (Yes – this is true)

4. You don’t have to write tons and tons of unique content – just enough to get indexed.

5. The Big G tells you what GOLD you are striking and all you need to do is tweak your site.

Below are 10 tips you can apply to optimize your website. This will improve your site’s visability in the search engines.

Optimize your website doing these things, and you WILL get MORE website traffic.

SEO Tip # 1 – Tag Me.

‘Title’ tags are essential. So are ‘keyword’ tags and ‘description’ tags.

Firstly – use the Google Keyword Tool. This is a Whiz Bang tool provided by Google if you don’t know already.

But a word of warning – don’t place all your big bets on this tool. It can be wrong.

However, that said – it is worth using it and trying many keywords, not just one.

Let’s run through a simple example.

Ensure every page has a title tag. Pretty obvious huh? Every page needs a relevant title. Make the name of the page the same as the keywords you are targeting. You have been to the Google keyword tool and discovered 5 keywords you want to target.

For the purposes of this example we will use the following phrase which has keywords in it.

‘how to make fast money’

You have checked the Google keyword tool and it is indicating there is limited competition for this phrase. First thing to do is name your new page exactly the same – use the same phrase.

So it should look like;

/how-to-make-fast-money.html

This will ensure the crawlers know exactly what your page is about.

Then use relevant keywords in the ‘keyword’ tags.

And finally, use a good relevant description in the ‘description’ tags.

Righto cobber, get your eyes onto this pic – as they say a picture is worth a thousand words. It should look something like this:

So to summarize this Tip:

1. Make sure every page you create has a title tag.

2. Make sure every page you create has a ‘keyword’ tag.

3. Make sure every page you create has a ‘description’ tag.

4. Search for a low competitive title using the Google keyword tool and use that phrase as your title.

5. Do it for every page you create.

If you target low competition phrases and long tailed keywords, you will pick up the traffic that no one is targeting. This is much easier traffic than trying for the highly competitive keywords.

SEO Tip # 2 – Get Backlinks

Link to your site from as many other places as you can.

Try to get relevant incoming links and deep link into your site.

So, if you find a blog about Making Fast Money, but the post you find is about Making Fast Money From Home – go there and make a comment, and create your own page about Making Fast Money From Home and link to it.

Comprehend?

Deep link and link relevant incoming links to relevant pages within your site.

SEO Tip # 3 – Webmaster Tools

If you don’t have a Google Account – then get one before the sky falls on your head. Log onto Google Websmaster Tools. Submit your site map.

The google account allows you to use the Google Webmaster Tools and these tools tell you everything about your site.

You will need to create a site map and upload it to your site.

This is so easy to do even my dog could do it and he is not particularly bright.

Simply go to places like XML Site maps and generate your site map. Upload using your FTP uploader thingo.

Once you have uploaded it, the Big G will come sniffing around and digest all your information.

Then – you will be able to view the statistics of how the Big G views your site and fix errors accordingly.

EASY !

SEO Tip # 4 – Labels

If you include any images in your pages, make sure you label them.

“What Do You Mean? Label them? Huh?”

Crawlers cannot read images.

If you put an Alt tag on every image – this tells the crawler what the image is about.

Great for targeting keywords and using images to pick up the search engine’s interest.

This is easy to do and it generates great Search Engine Traffic. You will be very surprised how your images get picked up and how visitiors find your site using this technique.

Make sure every image has an Alt Tag or Attribute.

SEO Tip #5 – Wheat, Barley, Grain……Huh?

Structure your site in a SILO configuration. This is really important if you want good search engine rankings.

This has been written about before – and the post is here….Silo Website Configuration.

SEO Tip #6 – Geeeez – You’re Awesome!

Write AWESOME headings.

Write AWESOME titles to your posts.

Write AWESOME titles to your page names.

Relevant titles and titles that other people might be searching for.

When you create a heading of your post or page, this often creates the url of the page. This happens in WordPress for example when you have set it to permalinks.

Read another post on permalinks.

This makes a big difference.

Do some research when you create the heading. Put your heading into the Big G and see if there are any competitors.

Then, put it into the Google keyword tool and see if there is any interest in your heading.

By just tweaking your heading slightly, you can pick up twice or three times as much traffic through organic search. This in the long term is going to make a BIG difference.

Spend 5 miutes checking to get long term search results – definetly worthwhile so

DON’T BE LAZY – DO IT.

SEO Tip #7 – Name It

Label your pages like this……

For example, if your page name is – Make Money In The Fast Lane

Your page name should be;

make-money-in-the-fast-lane.html

not

MakeMoneyInTheFastLane.html

or

Make%20Money%20In%20The%20FastLane.html

Makes sense huh?

You want it to not only be clear for the search engines crawling your site – but you want it to LOOK PROFESSIONAL.

Looking good makes all the difference. How many times have you been to a website and seen dodgy page names, poor layouts, grainy images and bad spelling.

ALL of these things make a HUGE difference.

SEO Tip #8 – Your Best Dance Move

When you are backlinking – yeah, it’s not a dance move…..MAKE SURE you use your keywords as ‘Anchor Text’.

Anchor Text is the BIG TEXT that Google throws out the side of the ship to stop them floating away. OK, bad joke.

Anchor text is this –

Here is some Anchor Text.

The ‘Fast Car’ part are the Keywords you are optimizing the page you are linking to.

There are 8 EASY tips you can apply to your site. Yep – if you think they are hard, Internet Marketing is not for you. Go and do some knitting or something else.

YES – OK I hear what you are saying……you just wanna make some cash online. Well, spend the time doing these things when you set your site up, and you will reap the rewards down the track.

Remember, you are in for the long haul and to haul your load you are going to need an elephant……

Ten Golden Rules for Getting Massive Website Hits

EVERYONE needs more traffic. Everyone except for your local interstate highway or freeway. Jokes aside, website traffic takes a lot of time to build up.

Yes – you could buy it, but hey, there is no challenge in that is there? You want it FAST. You want it NOW. and You want it FREE.

There are many places to find free traffic. In fact, the internet is saturated with traffic building techniques. This however, creates a big fat problem.

Which techniques actually work?

Which techniques work better than others?

Which techniques send long term traffic?

How much time is it going to take?

Here are 10 Golden Rules for getting more website traffic to your blog – and yes, they are all free – YIPPEE !

Apply these rules and you will get traffic.

Master Of None

Got a blog? Got a Website? What is it about?

Is it about everything?

Have you heard the saying – “Jack of all trades Master of None?” This is critical at start up phase. Your blog needs to be narrowly targeted.

If it is about Cars – Narrow it further. Make it about high performance luxury cars.

If it is about Craft – Make it about Craft for kids.

Got the idea?

Focus on doing this first, until you start getting lots of repeat readers and then slowly start to broaden your topics.

People need to know exactly what your blog is about as soon as they arrive. Visitors that are interested in your topic or niche, will hang around, bookmark it, and come back again.

The others that are not interested won’t – but you don’t want them anyway, so tell them to shooo….!

They are untargeted traffic so are unlikely to buy your product and you will need to be a very good salesperson to convince them otherwise !

The NERD Part

Yes, you might have to ‘NERD UP’ to deliver quality. This means writing excellent content. Time and time again you see this on the internet.

But, have you actually done it? Or, have you written rubbish?

‘Bust your guts’ finding good quality information. Don’t just post for the sake of it.

Do some research whenever you post and dig deep to find out what works and what doesn’t. Then test your ideas yourself and give feedback to your audience.

Facts are much more powerful than ‘dribble’ regenerated from someone else’s blog.

Oi – OVER HERE!

Which one of these titles is better?

A new Traffic Tip

or

HEY – YOU…….psssssttt check this TOP SECRET traffic tip to meltdown your server…….!!!

OK, it sounds a bit unbelievable, however, it creates more interest. The key is to grab the reader’s attention while being able to promise what you are saying you can do and deliver.

The title of your post is very important. A good title will not only attract attention, but it will pick up relevant keywords in the search engines. Check out your title using the Google Keyword Tool to see what keywords you are competing for. There may be an alternative choice that will bring you good traffic through organic search.

Yes, this takes a bit of time, but hey – this time will come back in droves of traffic.

Also, you should have your blog set to permalinks so that the keywords are in the URL. Check this out more here. If you haven’t done this – do it now. This is very important for Search Engine Results.

Then, use keywords in your titles – but make the title have IMPACT. Obviously you don’t want to jam 10 keywords in a title because it will just sound ridiculous.

THINK carefully about your title.

Hey Good Looking….

Make Sure Your Blog Looks Professional – Design is everything.

Is it really looking good? You know – really good?

Have you used a dodgy template?

The visual appearance is the first thing that people see when they visit.

It needs to;

1. Be easy on the eye
2. Be easy to read
3. Have clean lines
4. Have complementary colors
5. Load fast.

Research shows – when selling a product, in order of importance, price comes first and the appearance comes second.

Price
Appearance

The same goes for your Blog. OK, it is free to visit, but the next aspect in line is appearance.

MAKE it LOOK SMOKIN HOT !

If it doesn’t do any of these things – you are immediately behind the eight ball and you might as well – go back to your day job.

Gobble, Gobble, Google.

Get every page or post indexed as fast as possible.

If you don’t know the important of indexing – then you probably shouldn’t be trying to make money online. Google picking up your keywords is a great way to get free traffic. In fact – this has to be one of the best ways!

It is free and it just keeps coming.

If you don’t know the important of indexing – then you probably shouldn’t be trying to make money online.

Indexing your post is easy – go to Digg and submit it. Chances are it will get indexed overnight.

Simple – do it for every post.

What – You Again???

Add value through good features, good content, good graphics and replying to those that comment. Make it a good place to hang out and people will return.

Make sure you have a search tool so your frequent visitors can find what they want.

Participate in the comments made by your visitors. This shows interest in them and creates a community around your blog. This will encourage others to join in.

Update on a regular basis – There is nothing worse than returning to a blog after 2 weeks to find it has still not been updated.

However – remember you want to add some good quality content not just waffle. No one likes a waffler, they switch off at the drop of a hat.

So make sure you spend the time to research your topic and provide quality.

Post links to your blog on other blogs in the comments sections. This is targeting your audience. They will click your links and visit. Give it time – they will come.

You can find other blogs in your niche by using Blog search or typing relevant keywords in Google and going through the results.

Are You The Social Type?

To do this, you need to sign up to several communities and participate. Attract people to your blog through making comments on other people’s sites and looking at other people’s sites.

This is hard work. You can’t sign up to them all.

However – add quality to the ones that you do set up. Don’t just set up a profile and hope that people will flock your way – because they won’t. You need to participate in the community before people will take an interest in what you are doing.

Waffle On

Ever thought about the way you speak to others? If you are writing articles then chances are your articles will be similar to how you speak. Are you dribbling on and boring us to tears?

No one is going to read it. You need PASSION, EXCITEMENT & INTERESTING STUFF to grab people’s attention. This is essential.

Articles are a great way of attracting visitors.

However, you need to be able to reel them in like you are reeling in the ‘big one’. Make them want to read more, dig deeper and find out more. This is the key to getting them to click through to your site.

Articles also get sucked up by the Big G pretty quickly. They get indexed fast and are a good ‘sales pitch’ to your site or blog. Attract people through good quality articles and you will get visitors.

To do this, you need to sign up to several communities and participate.
