Short Term Hits
There are lots of places you can post your link and get some hits. For example, forums. You add a link to your signature, participate in the forum and BAM ! – People Visit your site.

This is not going to last long though. Within a few days your post will become buried in the hundreds of posts being added daily.

YOU NEED LONG TERM TRAFFIC.

Getting free website traffic means building it one link at a time. Creating backlinks and participating in forums in your niche will help. If you have a ton of backlinks pointing to your site, then this is going to increase it’s importance. If you website is seen as important in your niche then the search engines will rate it highly and it will come up on the first page of the results page. This is obviously the ideal situation, but how is it actually done?

The first thing to do is make sure your site is structured well. Make sure the search engine spiders can access all parts of your site easily and have a good understanding about what each part of your website is about. If you have Adsense on your site this will also help to display more accurate ads.

Once you have structured your site well, you can then go about getting backlinks. A backlink is a link that points to your website. One easy way to do this is to post comments on other people’s blogs. You can simply choose the relevant blogs in your niche and participate with good quality comments.

Another good way to create backlinks is to join a forum and have a link to your site in your signature. This also creates a backlink to your site. You are aiming for hundreds or thousands of backlinks, so it pays to work hard.

There really are a lot of ways to get tons of free website traffic. You need to combine all the free methods and use all of them at once. However, the majority of them are pretty ineffective in getting traffic for the long term. A lot of these techniques simply get buried in the information that is constantly getting put on the internet.

There is one method that is the king of all free methods for driving traffic to your website. This method is used by all the professionals to drive traffic to their sites and if you are struggling to get traffic you must consider this method.
